Woodland Trust

We are the Woodland Trust, the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity. We plant trees and protect woods – for the wildlife that can’t survive without them, for all of us who depend on them, and for the future.

The Woodland Trust was founded in 1972 – by a group of friends who were determined to save an ancient wood under threat from development in their home county of Devon.

We now have more than 500,000 members and supporters who help us stand up for trees, woods and wildlife across the UK and care for more than 1,000 of our own free, publicly-accessible woods.

We want to see more trees in the ground, to protect what the UK already has, and to see neglected ancient woods, our most precious land-based habitat, restored to their former glory.
