This session explores various theatrical ideas and devices through drawing. We will work imaginatively and from life, choosing a play or an opera for inspiration and using props and the model to create a theatrical scene. We will consider different elements of drawing the theatre, such as light and shadows, character, costume, space and scale. We will look at artists who have designed for the theatre, as well as those who have drawn and painted from constructed sets and costumed models in the studio.
