Mar Ortega González-Rubio (Barranquilla, 1977). Professor, researcher and activist from the Colombian Caribbean. Master's degree in Literature from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and PhD candidate in Literary Theory from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She teaches literature, creative writing, contemporary culture and gender at the Universidad del Norte, and is a member of the Gilkarí research group at the Universidad del Atlántico. Her work explores the writings of Caribbean women, dissident corporealities,popular culture and queer and intersectional studies, with an emphasis on artistic and community resistance in the Caribbean. Her publications include‘Shakira as Gender Technology’ (2014) and ‘Being Fat in the Caribbean:Literary Representations of Dissident Corporealities’ (2025). She regularly participates in international dialogues and conferences on literature and feminism.
