Laura C. Vela (Madrid, 1993) was born unfinished in the early hours of August 1993. Since then, she has been interested in the tiny and the strange. She bites her nails because she is pure nerves, but despite this, she is a lover of philosophy and slow things. A photographer, editor and writer, she is always putting together images and words or looking for someone to chat with. She has published several books, but Seismil (Niños gratis*, 2025) is the first one made up solely of words. In 2021, she co-founded the independent publishing house Comisura with Carlota Visier and Jesús Cano Reyes, where they publish hybrid discourses, organise cultural events and give workshops. She has edited authors such as Leanne Shapton, Hervé Guibert, Paz Errázuriz, Diamela Eltit, Teju Cole, Valeria Mata, Sabina Urraca and Marina Azahua, among others. At Comisura, she is responsible for project coordination, book design, graphics, social media and the website, accounting, author management and, together with Carlota and Jesús, the selection of books for the catalogue.
