Juanita Goebertus Estrada is Director of the Americas Division at Human Rights Watch. Between 2018 and 2022, Juanita served as a member of Colombia's Congress, dedicating her term to the implementation of the Peace Agreement between the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). Previously, she was the transitional justice coordinator for the Office of the High Commissioner for Peace during the peace negotiations in Havana. She also served as advisor to Colombia's High Advisor on National Security, advisor to the Deputy Minister of Defence, and deputy director of the Institute for Comprehensive Transitions. Juanita holds a law degree and a degree in political science from the University of the Andes (Colombia) and a master's degree in law from Harvard University.
