José María Muñoz Quirós holds a degree in Hispanic Philology and is a professor of Language and Literature at the secondary school level. He is a full member of the Academy of Poetry of Castile and León. His literary work has received numerous awards, including the 1984 Ateneo de Salamanca Prize, the 1998 Fray Luis de León Prize, and the 1999 Jaime Gil de Biedma Prize. In this collection, he has published Ritual de los espejos, which won second prize in the 1990 Adonáis Prize.
