Journalist, lawyer, producer and photojournalist. Formerly an editor on Dominical, the literary supplement of the Cartagena newspaper El Universal. He received a scholarship for Journalistic Research on Displacement in the Colombian Caribbean and another for Cultural Journalism, both awarded by the FNPI. He directed the series Gaita, cuando el indio quiso ser pájaro for the Telecaribe channel. Recognition for his career has come in the form of an Ernesto McCausland Reporting Award and a nomination for the Semana Journalism Award in the Reporting category. A columnist for the las2orillas.com site and the Semana Rural project, je has published the books Pasa la voz queda la palabra (2011) and El dolor de volver (2017). He is the director of the Cuento y Crónica workshop, part of the Ministry of Culture’s Relata network, and also of the creation blog https://cuentoycronicablog.wordpress.com/. He was responsible for the post-production of the album Paisaje en tambora by the singer Martina Camargo. Lara’s reports and short stories have been published by national and international media outlets, and he currently lectures in Fiction on the Social Communication programme at Cartagena University.
