Lord Meghnad Desai is a British economist of Indian origin, a Professor Emeritus of Economics at the London School of Economics, and a member of the Labour Party of the United Kingdom. He was awarded India’s prestigious Padma Bhushan Prize in 2008, is the president of the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum, an independent research network that serves as a non-lobbying platform for exchanges between official institutions and the private sector worldwide, and has just opened the Meghnad Desai Academy of Economics. His most recent book is Hubris: Why Economists Failed to Predict the Crisis and How to Avoid the Next One.
