Rafael Dumett (Peru) is the author of the extraordinary novel El espía del inca, a bestseller and literary phenomenon. It tells the story of a member of the Inca Empire’s secret service who is called upon to rescue the Emperor Atahualpa, who has been taken captive by a group of foreigners. This novel’s historical rigor is capable of transporting the reader to one of the most decisive moments in the history of Peru and indeed the whole of the Americas: the conquest of Inca territory. He studied Linguistics at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru and Theatre at the Teatro de la Universidad Católica and at the Sorbonne in Paris. Dumett will talk about his novel, the craft of writing, and he will share details about his new book, to be published in 2023, in conversation with David Marcial Pérez Muñoz, the El País journalist.
