Manuel, the main character, aims to find his true identity, while he travels through a Peru that is characterised by a mixture of cultures and all the contradictions this brings with it. After the success of Animales luminosos, he returns, more ambitious than ever, with a bildungsroman. In conversation with Juan Gabriel Vásquez.
