Morning Iyengar yoga session with Wye Valley Yoga

Wake up and re-energise with our morning yoga class. Iyengar yoga is characterized by precision, alignment and attention to detail and is an inclusive and accessible yoga practice. Mats are provided, wear comfortable clothing.

Rambert Dance Workshop

Venue: Cube

Rambert is Britain’s national dance company. It presents new and historic dance works to audiences in all parts of the country, performed by world-class dancers and accompanied by live music, alongside extensive outreach, education, participation and professional development work. Work with one of Rambert’s animateurs in an exhilarating dance workshop. All abilities welcome. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a bottle of water.

Elmer

Venue: Good Energy Stage

Travel with Elmer the patchwork elephant on a vibrant, musical safari through the jungle to celebrate everything that makes us unique. Adapted from David McKee’s Elmer tale, in this stage show Elmer tries to hide his true colours and blend in. With the help of his friends, he soon discovers that he’s happiest just being himself.

Come along to our immersive lantern-lit tented Storytelling Nook to listen to Veronica Lamond’s illustrated stories of Landy and Fender the lovable Land Rovers, and Kenyan author Aunty Kiko’s tale “Baby Elephant’s Safari, and experience how solar light is making a difference to millions of families in Africa.

Tom Gates: Family, Friends and Furry Creatures

Join the author/illustrator for a fantastic show filled with stories, games, music and live doodling inspired by suggestions from the audience. Pichon will introduce the new Tom Gates adventure: Tom’s teacher Mr Fullerman has set a class assignment: a family tree! Tom's ready to learn all about the Gates family, his friends and a furry creature (or two!). Bring a pencil and paper.

Sarah Crossan and Brian Conaghan

We Come Apart

Venue: Starlight Stage

Join the winners of the 2016 CILIP Carnegie Medal and the 2016 Costa Children’s Book Award respectively to discuss their original way of writing their most recent book. These two authors collaborated on writing a novel in verse, sending chapters back and forth on WhatsApp, and created an extraordinary tale. Chaired by Daniel Hahn.

Floella Benjamin

Coming to England

An actress, author, producer and working peer, Benjamin is best known for her work presenting children’s TV programmes such as Play School. Join her for a truly inspiring event as she talks about her childhood memoir and the journey she made as a youngster from Trinidad to embark on a very different life with her family in England in 1960. She shows how having the courage to believe in yourself can help you tackle new challenges and overcome adversity.

The Pavee

Venue: Cube

Illustrator Emma Shoard and singer and storyteller Geraldine Bradley bring to life Siobhan Dowd’s The Pavee and the Buffer Girl in picture, story and song. The story of the friendship between a traveller boy and a settled girl, this is a hymn to the power of love and friendship to bridge differences. Irish traveller songs, both traditional and modern, are woven into this reading of the story, as the characters and settings are illustrated  on screen.
