Over the course of a career spanning five decades, internationally celebrated filmmaker and screenplay writer Manuel Gutiérrez Aragón has worked with many of Spain’s leading actors, among them Fernando Rey, Fernando Fernán Gómez, Ángela Molina, Ana Belén, Imanol Arias and Juan Luis Galiardo. He talks to journalist Jesús Ruiz Mantilla about his new book, A los actores (To actors) and his approach to directing, and in particular, coaxing the best performances from his players.
