Documentary Screening: El buen amor (The Good Love)

The Malangosto pilgrimage is very special. For the last fifty years, on the first Sunday in August, hundreds of people from Madrid and Segovia walk, ride, or drive to the Malangosto pass, located at a height of some 2,000 meters in the Natural Park of the Sierra de Guadarrama. But the occasion isn’t to celebrate the appearance of the Virgin Mary, but the sexual encounter between Juan Ruíz, the Archpriest of Hita, and shepherdesss La chata, as told in The Book of Good Love. Directed by Gabriel Azorín (2014), with Elena Ballesteros and Nancho Novo.
