Renato Cisneros and Teresa Ruiz Rosas in conversation with Jesús Ruiz Mantilla

Literary families.

Arequipa 2018,

Renato Cisneros wrote the novel The Distance Between Us (2018) based on his personal life and experiences with his father, the famous soldier Luis Federico Cisneros Vizquerra. In 2017 he published Dejarás la tierra, the sequel, which completes the story of the first novel. María Teresa Ruiz Rosas is a literary writer and translator. Her extensive bibliography includes around 20 books and translations from German, English and Hungarian. Her novel Nada que declarar (2015) deals with human trafficking, particularly the case of a young Peruvian woman who seeks to escape from the life in which she is trapped in Germany. Her latest book is the collection of short stories El color de los hechos (2017). Both authors tackle their country’s past through family histories, resulting in intimate tales that are also successful historical and social portraits. In conversation with Jesús Ruiz Mantilla.
