Olga Montero Rose and Kathy Serrano in conversation with Enrique Planas

Literature and psychoanalysis

Arequipa 2022,

Olga Montero Rose (Peru) is a psychoanalyst and member of the Peruvian Psychoanalytical Society and of the International Psychoanalytical Association. Her literary debut, Cortejo (2022), tells the story of Simona, a woman in her mid-forties who has just lost her mother, a pillar of strength for her; at this time, she meets a woman who makes her question many of the certainties in her life. The story is told through the sessions that Simona has each week with a psychoanalyst, at which she examines her experiences of childhood, mourning, desire, and the birth of a new love. Kathy Serrano, born in Venezuela, educated in performing arts in Russia and now based in Peru, presents her first novel, El dolor de la sangre, which features a Venezuelan woman who returns to her country after having made a new life for herself in Lima, and who must face her family, her past and part of herself that she thought she had left behind. In conversation with the writer and journalist Enrique Planas.
