Nikita Lalwani and Rocío Quillahuaman in conversation with Javier García del Moral

Equity Series: Literature and migration

Arequipa 2022,

There may be that nothing that feeds and transforms societies and cultures like migration, one of the constants throughout human history. However, this movement of peoples and mixing of cultures can often result in oppression, abuse and even violence. This matter is also one that has been dealt with extensively in literature. Nikita Lalwani (India/United Kingdom), born in Kota and brought up in Cardiff, is the author of three much-lauded novels which explore stories of migrants and families with different cultural identities. Rocío Quillahuaman (Peru/Spain) was born in Lima and lives in Barcelona. She is currently one of Spain’s most viral illustrators and to date she has created over 300 animations and has more than 177 thousand followers on Instagram. They will talk with Javier García del Moral, owner of the independent bookshop The Wild Detectives in Dallas, USA.
