Gypsiness' in Aeschylus

This is a discussion involving theatre director Francisco Suárez, and flamenco dancer and choreographer Belén Maya. The event is chaired by Joaquín López Bustamante, who curated the programme. The discussion will focus on the earliest known play, The Persians by Aeschylus, which depicts war as a monstrous action which derives from the interests of the most powerful. The participants reflect on the role of tragedy as an art form and as a story about the future of oppressed minorities.

9.30pm – Fraskito and Yeray Cortés

Concert: ‘Vientos del pueblo nos llevan’… Gypsy music for Miguel Hernández

Singer-songwriter Fraskito, accompanied by Yeray Cortés, presents an acoustic concert featuring music from his album Tierra y Sangre, in which he endows Miguel Hernández’s poetry with flamenco nuances. The concert will be dedicated to the memory of Félix Grande, who recently passed away. Grande was a poet, a flamenco scholar and a critic. He was regarded as one of the greatest renewers of Spanish poetry of the 1960s. A keen musician, songwriter and guitarist, he wrote many books, texts and articles which are flamenco classics.
