Entry to the Hay Festival site is free, so everyone can explore and enjoy the cafés, bars, restaurants, exhibitors and shops. All the Festival events are ticketed individually and you will need to buy a ticket(s) to each event that you wish to attend. Entry to some events is free – but if there is a limited capacity you will need to reserve a ticket, this will be indicated in the event listing.
The best way to book your tickets is online. You can browse the full Hay Festival programme and book tickets online now. Tickets will also be on-sale at the festival.
Students in Higher Education can get up to five free tickets. If you would like to secure some of these tickets, please call the Box Office on 01497 822 629 on or after 2 May (student tickets cannot be booked online). Each student can pick up to five events – if the ticket allocation is gone for a particular event, you will be asked to chose a replacement. Please have your list ready, together with your reserve choices and the corresponding event numbers, before you call.
You will need to quote your student ID when booking tickets, and we ask for a £10 deposit payable by credit or debit card, refundable when you collect your tickets at the Box Office. We ask for a deposit in order to prevent wastage of uncollected tickets. Tickets will be held at the Box Office for collection, and you will be asked to present your valid student ID when collecting tickets.
HAYDAYS is our programme within Hay Festival for children, young people and families.
All events and workshops are ticketed individually, or in some cases are free to access, but again these might have a limited capacity so please check event listings for details. Prices for children's events are kept as low as possible, and there are normally no concessions.
If you are buying children's workshop tickets (events prefixed with W) you only need to purchase one ticket per child. Parents and carers can attend free or sign a release form on the day if the child is 9+.
For HAYDAYS events (HD), and storytelling events (S), we ask that parents and carers buy a ticket and attend the event unless the child is 14+.
Under-12s must be accompanied at all times on the Festival site, including during events (unless indicated otherwise in the event listing). Where a child and an adult are attending an event together, a ticket is required for each.
Call the box office on 01497 822 629.
