Booking Information

We look forward to welcoming you to this year’s Festival, Thursday 23 May to Sunday 2 June 2019. Book tickets online.

audience at young family event

During Hay Festival, entry to the Festival site is free, so everyone can explore and enjoy the cafés, bars, restaurants, exhibitors and shops. All Festival events are ticketed individually and you need to buy a ticket(s) to each event that you wish to attend. Entry to some events is free – but if there is a limited capacity you need to reserve a ticket: this is always indicated in the event listing.

The best way to book your tickets is online – if you'd like us to notify you when we put tickets on sale, please sign up to our mailing list. Tickets are also on sale at the Festival.

Students in Higher Education can get up to five free tickets. Student tickets cannot be booked online; they can be booked with the Box Office by phone from 2 May up until the start of the Festival. You will need to quote your student ID when booking tickets, and we ask for a £10 deposit payable by credit or debit card, refundable when you collect your tickets at the Box Office. We ask for a deposit in order to prevent wastage of uncollected tickets. Tickets are held at the Box Office for collection, and you will be asked to present your valid student ID when collecting.

HAYDAYS is our programme within Hay Festival for children, young people and families.

All events and workshops are ticketed individually, or in some cases are free to access, but again these might have a limited capacity so please check event listings for details. Prices for children's events are kept as low as possible, and there are normally no concessions.

If you are buying children's workshop tickets (events prefixed with W) you only need to purchase one ticket per child. Parents and carers can attend free or sign a release form on the day if the child is aged 9+.

For HAYDAYS events (HD), and storytelling events (S), we ask that parents and carers buy a ticket and attend the event unless the child is aged 14+.

Under-12s must be accompanied at all times on the Festival site, including during events (unless indicated otherwise in the event listing). Where a child and an adult are attending an event together, a ticket is required for each.
