The ninth edition of Hay Festival Arequipa will be hold from November 9 to 12.

First things first. When is the festival happening?

Hay Festival Arequipa 2023 will run from November 9 to 12. All the events will be in-person. We will also stream some of them so anyone who can't join us at Arequipa will be able to watch the festival. And if you can't see the events live, don't worry, as they will be available until November 26.

And what about Moquegua? Will there be Hay Forum Moquegua?

Of course! Moquegua is a safe place for us, we are eager to visit Moquegua every year. This edition, the festival will be on the 8th of November. Here some highlighted authors: Emma Graham-Harrison, Gustavo Rodríguez, Daniela Rotalde, Jaime Saavedra, Francesca Uccelli Labarthe

I want to book some tickets for Hay Festival Arequipa. Are they on sale already? Where? How much for each ticket?

We have answers for all those questions. You can already buy the tickets! Where? Here! How much? 10 soles for the conversations, 35 soles for some selected conversations and plays and 50 for the concert.

What about the payment methods?

If you buy tickets on the website, you will need to use a credit or debit card. We will have a physical boxoffice from 30 October onwards, where you will be able to pay in cash or credit card. You can use Visa, Mastercard and Maestro.

Where will the box office be based on?

You will find us at Teatro Fénix: Gral. Móran 104, Arequipa 04001

Will I receive my tickets on my e-mail?

Yes you will. You will receive a receipt of your purchase, and you will be able to download your tickets in that same receipt. Tickets have a QR code that you must show at the venue.

Are the events for all ages?

Yes, there is not entry restriction. But, please, bear in mind that some activities may not be suitable for the younger audience, because of the themes they will talk about. Hay Festivalito is aimed to children. And University students have an exclusive programming for them: Hay Joven.

I am a university student / + 65 years old. Do I have any discount?

Lucky you! Each student or older than 65 years old is entitled to have up to 10 tickets for free. %20 of each venue capacity will be available for this purpose. You will need to fill a short form for that, and prove you are student or +65. You might be asked to show your ID when entering to the events. You will be able to ask for your tickets until November 5th. No further requests will be accepted.

Will Spanish events have a simultaneous translation into English?

No. As this is a Peruvian festival, it is specially aimed for an hispanic audience. Therefore, events in Spanish will not have translations, and events in English, French or German will have simultaneous translation into Spanish.

Can I ask questions to the authors?

Yes. Most of our events have a Q&A on the last 10-15 minutes of the event..

Will you sell books?

That is true. Authors will be signing books. We have allied with Librerías SBS one more time to sell the books of your favourites authors.

And what about book signings?

There is only one thing better than bringing a couple of books back to home, bringing those books signed by the author. Most of our events will have book signings at the end of the talk..

Is there any kind of pass to sell all the events? Or do I need to purchase single tickest for each event?

We don't have passes for the whole festival, so yes, you will need to buy tickets for each event you are interested in..

Can I go to as many events as I want?

Sure! Enjoy as many events as you want and spread your knowledge! Just bear in mind that some events are at the same time...

How do I register to watch the live streamings?

If you browse the events, you qill find that some of them have a "Register to watch online" button. Just click there, fill a simple form, and enjoy the streaming.

That was easy! Will a receive a confirmation?

Of course you will. As soon as you register you will receive a confirmation e-mail. If you don't receive it, we suggest you check your "Promotions" or "Spam" folders. And if there is no sign of a confirmation e-mail, you may have misspeled when filling the form. Apart from the confirmation e-mail, you will receive two reminders: one day and one hour before it starts.

I have registered but there's no confirmation yet.

Again, have you looked into the "Promotions" and "Spam" folders? Or you might misspeled your information. Why don't you register again? The system will let you know if you have already registered. There's no harm in trying again... 

For online streaming, is there any limit on the number of events I can register for?

No! You can join to whichever events you wish. In fact, don't you know that we love all of you that register to plenty of events? And, isn't it joyful to be surprised by new authors that we did not know before?

What can I do if I have tech issues when watching live events?

We suggest that if you are experiencing technical issues viewing the activities, you try one of these solutions:

1. If audio or video have lags, please try with lower resolutions, you can click on the video, in the right lower side.

2. This might be because your Internet connection is not working as well as it should. If you are sharing your network with more people, try asking them not to use Internet and the same time.

3. Refresh your page.

Our streamings work with Vimeo Live. Here you will find some advices to solve any problem.

Can I watch the events anywhere? Or do I need to be in Peru?

Yes, you can watch the events anywhere in the world. You only need to take into account that the Time Zone and hour shown on the website are the ones of Arequipa, Peru: CDT / GMT -5

Can I see the events later if I can't join live?

Yes you can, events will be available to rewatch until November 21. Once this period is over, you will be able to watch them on the Hay Festival Anytime.
