Julio Arbizu is a lawyer, writer and human rights defender. He has dedicated a significant part of his career to the fight against corruption, the defence of fundamental rights and the cause of historical memory. He served as Peru’s Anti-Corruption Prosecutor and has held various public offices while engaging in human rights advocacy. He has also been an active voice in Peruvian public discourse through journalism and political and legal analysis. In 2026, he released Negro, his first collection of short stories, published by Penguin Random House. Drawing on personal memory, the book explores themes of racism, identity, family, love, defeat and dignity, transforming intimate experiences into stories that engage with Peru’s collective memory. With Negro, Arbizu begins a new chapter in his career — this time, in the realm of literature.
