Vidya Narine in conversation with Augusto Carrasco

Based on meticulous research on orchids, including accounts from 19th-century explorers and scientists and contemporary botanical studies, Vidya Narine (France) has created a short, fragmented and poetic novel that interweaves the history of these flowers with a narrative on capitalist and colonial development. Orchidéíste is a debut novel that exposes the paradoxes of our time while reflecting on the exploitation of natural resources and the loss and transmission of family traditions. Narine combines her literary career with creative direction in the world of fashion and communication, and edits the literary magazine Sève. In conversation with Augusto Carrasco.
