The crisis of democracy

Venue: Campus de Santa Cruz la Real, IE university, Aula Magna

Winston Churchill is attributed with saying that democracy is the “worst form of government, except for all those other forms.” But recent electoral upsets, notably Theresa May’s 2017 election shambles Brexit and Donald Trump’s election in the United States point to potential problems with the West’s representative system. A.C. Grayling, who has explored the problem in his new book Democracy and its Crisis, discusses how democracy has failed, and how to repair it with Manuel Muñiz, Dean of the School of International Relations at IE University.
