There are places where nothing ever seems to change, until a breaking point is reached. Like when the women of a coastal village in Galicia rebel against the selfishness of the absent men and take a drastic decision in Punto de araña, the debut novel by Nerea Pallares (Spain). There are also places marked by events that change the lives of their inhabitants. Such as a middle-class neighbourhood in Rouen where three female butchers, victims of sexual abuse, take the law into their own hands in Las carniceras by Sophie Demange (France). Or the Second World War, during which Hannie Schaft went from being a university student to an icon of the Dutch resistance against the Nazi occupation, in Ráfaga roja by Liliana Blum (Mexico). These three writers will speak with Zoila Vega Salvatierra about how women have resisted and challenged the place that history seemed to have reserved for them.
