La coach de vida y logoterapeuta Paula López Espinosa ofrecerá herramientas a cuidadores y familiares de los niños y niñas beneficiarios de la Fundación Teletón atendidos en la Clínica San Juan de Dios Arequipa, con el propósito de fortalecer su crecimiento personal y demostrar que, aunque los desafíos pueden ser grandes, también lo es nuestra capacidad para superarlos. Esta colaboración representa un valioso apoyo para familias y cuidadores.

Through the voices of some of the most outstanding figures who have participated in the festival, the public can see some of the secrets behind the scenes of the Hay Festival in Colombia. Presented by Cristina Fuentes La Roche.
Afra Kane’s influences include everything from jazz, the foundation of her music, to European classical music, in which she trained as a pianist, with a strong current of soul. Winner of a Montreux Jazz Talent Award and nominated for the Swiss Live Talents Awards, this Italian-Nigerian pianist, singer and composer, resident in Switzerland, stands out for her powerful voice, her expressive piano playing, and a captivating stage presence. Her elegant style and contemporary sound is capable of crossing borders with ease.

Discussing the coverage given by El Búho to the affairs of Arequipa over these last 25 years, the editor, Mabel Cáceres, will talk to the architect Mauricio Huaco, the sociologist José Luis Ramos and the entrepreneur, Director of IPE Arequipa and former Chair of Caja Arequipa, María Pía Palacios. They will debate the evolution of the city during this period and also talk about the future of the White City in the fifth century since its founding, a milestone celebrated in 2040. They will discuss facing the challenges of mass migration, the lack of adequate urban development planning, social conflicts, and different views on the economy.

Since 2019, the Hay Festival Arequipa has been running sessions in men’s and women’s prisons in Arequipa with the aim of fulfilling its goal of reaching the most vulnerable sections of the community. This year, the Peruvian writer, Enmanuel Grau, will talk about his book of short stories El fin de los tiempos, which relates the experiences of marginal, and marginalised, characters who have been powerfully marked by a failed system. He will talk to Raúl Romero, reading mediator of La Bibliobici de Arequipa.

Since 2019, the Hay Festival Arequipa has been running sessions in men’s and women’s prisons in Arequipa with the aim of fulfilling its goal of reaching the most vulnerable sections of the community. At this event, together with reading mediator Carla Galdós, the Colombian-Spanish writer Paula López Espinosa will talk to prisoners about her book of emotional healing, Transforma tu dolor, in which she will help them to find the diamond in their souls, through a skilful and inspiring method. The conversation will be followed by a workshop lead by the author.

Rodolfo Sánchez-Aizcorbeis the co-author of Para entender el conflicto palestino-israelí, a long essay that gets beyond the stereotypes and analyses the narratives involved in a conflict whose consequences are being felt by the entire Palestinian civil population. In conversation with Pablo Quintanilla Bedregal,professor at the School of Political Science and Government.
Culture influences people; it provides a sense of identity and belonging, and guides values and perceptions of the world. Understanding it helps societies to face challenges and handle conflicts, and comprehending cultural contexts constitutes a basis for professional approaches. María del Milagro Lozada (Peru) will explore non-verbal communication, as well as the theoretical frameworks and strategies that favour the recognition and understanding of cultures.
